As you can see Phil Dugan's car is crunched pretty bad; both ends of the car, front suspension, body, etc. Phil looked alot better than the car though.
but if anyone is wondering how this wreck happened it may help to look at the location of the donut on Ratterree's car. Now if that was caused by the left rear tire on Dugan's car where would that put Ratterree's nose at the time of the contact? Was Ratterree under far enough to have the inside or did Dugan still have it?
I thought that the rule of thumb was if the nose of the inside car is up to the drivers door then the inside car has the lane and the outside car must give way. It looks to me that with that donut where it is then the nose of Ratterree's car was about a foot or two short.
I know it was too fast to tell during the race and only the video will tell the tale but that donut looks interesting.
Too bad the tempers flared so much. Wrecks and even worse, tempers, mar the quality of the racing.
Even though it was short that was some of the most exciting racing i've seen in a while.
Phil Dugan is one hell of a driver and very polite. I know he has lots of fans that wish him well, me included. Phil, get your car back out, we miss you already.
Lots of cars have been torn up already this year in the name of hard racing. I hope it settles down soon.
