Wild night at the ol speedway--Summer is here!!!!

We have been waiting for the luck to shine down on us at the track all year and have a great night of racing and still get to the bar by midnight. Well we got it along with some exciting racing Saturday night at Meridian Speedway. With the Sean Miller 50 lap memorial race set tocap off the night, mother nature gave us a nice springlike June day--again the mini stocks had a huge car count again--Jason Lampman blew a motor, and Jamie Frostrom injured his back during the week, so the ace in the hole racing team let Jason take over driving duties of the 56 car to help keep him in the points hunt-now let me first say this, i have been offered a ride in a few cars since i hung up my helmet, but deep down i was afraid i would wreck someone elses car and wouldnt be able to fix it-but with an ASA title in Lampmans sights, and the tight knit family at the track, Jason strapped into the freshly painted car and set out to race---and in the main event mother luck shuned Jason and sent him and cody Mitchell straight into the north end water barrells--HAARD!!both drivers walked away--the cars, well they didnt--now I tried to put myself in Jasons place-so I asked Jamie if he saw his car--and the entire Ace in the Hole group said "Jason is now an official team member!!" Wow Jamie, I will wreck your car this weekend for you, in qualifying even so we can have a few beers and BS about my lack of skills if i can be part of the team--Just kidding, by Jamie allowing Jason to drive it goes to show that there are racers that still believe we are a family--Tyler Monroe tried his hand at Rick Brees's mini sock and looked good too, until an overheating issue ended his night. Joe Barton and Kenny Chandler continued to take us back in time a few years when it was the joe and Kenny Show--Awesome to see them at the top again. But what I was looking forward to was the grand american race and the Sean Miller Memorial 50. I remember as a young fan watching Sean go for a "sunday Drive" around the 1/4 mile while other street stock drivers jockeyed for position--he was taken from us too soon--and will always be remembered--it was awesome to see the 23 team of Chris Fenton pick up a HUGE win, they seem to always be there at the end, and it is nice too see them capitalize and take the cup--what a race, Sean would be proud as Shawna and their two daughters posed with the cup at the end of a great night of racing--I still have both my parents, i cant imagine how those girls deal with being so young and coming to the place their father loved--obviously a very strong family--we could learn alot from people like them. So the hornet main ended at 10:30 and we finally avoided the wrecks, oil and issues and had a great day to kick off the summer. The coolest thing was that Neal Latham and Joe Barton gave Alec, the Racing for Smiles participant, their trophies--Again--First Class guys can always be found at Meridian Speedway--way to go!!!!
