Time flies when we are havin fun.....

Can it be true that we are already to the final month of the 2008 season at local race tracks. It seems like yesterday we were waiting for mother nature to decide if it was spring or winter, and now here we are with only two races left at Sandhollow raceway Park for our outlaw karters and midget drivers, the thunder stocks at meridian speedway are going to settle thier championship this Saturday night at Meridian Speedway......whew, dont blink or you'll be buying christmas lights talking about the 2009 motorsports season and not sure where the 08 season went. In a month or so I will sit down and puke out all my thoughts of a season in review, but no puking here yet, I am getting excited for the stretch run at the championships in the valley. Where do you start, we have had exciting racin gin the last month or so to get us ready. In the latemodels at MS, John Nesmith seemed unbeatable in his run at another title, then a young man whom we have seen at SRP and a regular on the RMCS over the last few years jumped into the ESI 18 machine and tore up the 1/4 mile, with a couple weeks off for the dust to settle we are now ready for a drag race to the finish between young Chris ratteree and a man whom i have watched for years in the stock cars at Meridian, Mr. Nesmith. Erik Miller had the legends championship all but won as there did not seem to be anyone with a shot at the 24, ahh but the sophmore non winged sprint class had been calling Erik ever since they first fired their engines last season, and like racing gets in your blood, so does types of racing, and as a fan of Eriks at SRP in the karts, his time in a 360 sprint car and in the legends, I figured it wouldn't be long before he was rubbin tires again. Erik told me it isn't about championships for him, it is about each individual race, one of the good guys at the track is completing the 2008 season doing what he loves in the car he loves for the sole reason of competing. I will be talking to erik in victory lan real soon. Can Darrell Lankford be stopped in the street stock class? The 11 car goes and goes and goes----not a stellar car count year for the streets, but some awesome competition for sure. Mini madness continues at the track as well, 25-30 cars EVERY race night, great competition. I have picked favoritesin this class this year-a different one every night-Bolinger, Ables,Lampman,Sanders and Sanders, Shoecraft......let me save some time, grab a roster and read all the names, that is who can win on any given night-thumbs up to this class for being top notch, what else can a promotor or fan ask for than what the mini's have brought to the table in 08. Aly Clark seemsed to be on the road to success in the bando's, but Chase Gilbertson is poised to take the title as he grooms himself for bigger and better--he just needs to wait to get bigger and older, should be a shootout this month for the youngsters.I think the closest competition is the super stocks, I have faviorites here too, but i cant even say who to pick----we will see as the season winds down. The hornets and Grand americansjust finished a two day show that will for sure shake up the points races and the Late model Lites fielded 38 cars this weekend as Joe Barton leads them into the final laps. Crowd favorite winged sprints return for a 100 lap feature this week, another pickem as Brandon Johnsons annual run at Kenny Hamilton could be coming to an end as Brandon announced that he and The torch are going outlaw hunting in 2009--full time, big time racing, good luck guys we are pulling for you. But the Idaho outlaw has some unfinished business here at home first as he leads Kenny Hamilton in the race to September 26 and 27--We all know that the 14 will be smoking his way around the track a few more times as he sees the championship in the not so distant future--who wants to spoil the party-the legend, Miss Jackson, hot rookie Cory Lockwood, glad to be home cody Veenstra, yes they all want a piece, but if it is a three way battle the end of september, dont count out the 37 of Mike Cullem, Mike is on a roll and would be more than happy to watch Brandon and Kenny battle as he flies by--keep your eyes on these three this weekend. OUTLAW KARTERS PREPARE, two big weekends left at SRP and the points races are always tight out where the black top ends. Later this week i will try to disect the points and will have full karter blog to get your motors running towards your coveted championships as well. So take a breath, sleep good and leave you weekends open throught the month of September, just because we a 90% through the season doesn't mean you can relax--the excitement is just getting started and the drivers, the tracks, and the fans are going to heat up the valley in the next four weeks, don't miss it-----I willl see you at the races!!!!!THE SHOWDOWN IN DOWNTOWN COMING THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!CONGRATULATIONS TO GA DRIVER KERI SIGMAN ON THE ARRIVAL OF HER SON LAST WEEKEND----GRANDPA BETTER START BUILDING AN OUTLAW KART!!!!!!!!!
