Rick Baldwin Super Stock winner

Rick, Ricky Bobby, Baldwin (second from left) receives the Dee Forrey, VanSchoiack, Robert Manwill trophy from Trophy sponsors Gale and Tracy Carter (Gale Carter in the blue race suit and Tracy on the far right)

Rick Baldwin took home the memorial trophy on Saturday night, Aug. 9th. After an emotional wreck that took out Gale Carter and sent him to the back of the lead lap it looked like Phyllip Zubizareta won the race by a fender just inside of Baldwin but after the race Zubizareta was penalized for an improper last turn of the last lap pass. It looked to me that he nosed his way inside and pushed Baldwin up and was possibly under the white line also. I enjoy photographing Phyllip, he is photogenic, but in my opinion Baldwin deserved the win.

Actually Carter deserved the win. As I saw it (and anyone with posting priveleges on this website is welcome to comment) with about five laps to go he was bumped from behind on turn one and was forced loose and slid up the track but not far enough for a car behind to pass. But the car behind kept at it and kept Carter loose so he could not gather it up. The heartbreaking spin-out eventually happened a half lap later with the result being Dennis Brodigan and Carter both sent to the back at the restart.

Brodigan is a talented driver but this is the second time this season he has spun the leader in a bid for the win. Both times he was sent to the back. Both times he would have finished the race in a better position if he had driven less with his front bumper and more with his ability. And here is the part that makes many fans and drivers to wonder, both times it was Carter that he spun. Some people think that he has an agenda and Carter is his target. I don't know about that but I overheard someone say in the Brodigan pit stall after the races last night "every track needs a bad boy". My opinion is not really, no, I am sure they don't.

(note from the editor) Please review all of the posts on this topic before making any assumptions regarding the race referenced above. I have seen a youtube video that does not show any contact at turn one as I said earlier. The video also does not show what happened on the back stretch. The above referenced incident is probably just an unfortunate raciing incedent between two strong competitors. I was cheering for Gale Carter to win because he and his wife Tracy are the sponsors of the trophy and also because they are my friends. I do not in any way see in the video nor in my photos any fault in Carter's driving on Saturday night and I can not see where Brodigan did anything intentionally.

I would love to hear your comments.

Well actually Dennis the

Well actually Dennis the photos can be printed but they are not of good enough quality to bother with I will send them to you though if you want. As a record though they are good enough. I have seen videos and the evidence they provide and it is often still up to interpretation.

Not really trying to stir up controversy but I am just voicing my opinion. I think you are a terrific driver and so is Phyl, but sometimes from a fan's point of view the good part of your ability gets obscured by the other parts that seem to be presented. I am just voicing the opinion that I had heard from more than one person after the races.

Thanks for your comments.

Sat. Super Stock Race

Thanks Phil for your view. Im sure it was better than the dark photo's that could not be posted. For the record anyone who would like to contact me I have filmed footage of the entire incident that has been outlined in this artical that may provide a more accurate account of what really happened. Further more I would like to congradulate the real winner of the race, Phil Zub. in the 02 Super Stock on a great last lap, last turn pass for the win!

P.S. Film footage will be posted soon on Youtube. I'll report, you decide.

P.S.S. My only agenda is to win races! Maybe other's should drive what they have instead of using there mirror, in my opinion.

Brodigan

carter did not get loose on lap 35 because someone was pushing him. he got loose because he was pushing himself to hard. dennis went under him clean and carter drove like he was racing a hornet and drove into dennis. dennis dosnt mean to spin people out. he just like to rub and rubbings racing. me and dennis race just like dale earnhardt no one ever thought dale did anything wrong when he bumped and moved people in nascar but we do it on a short track and we bad dirty drivers. short track is knows for rubbing and bumping and fans love it and i dont regret what i did to baldwin on the last lap. i race to win not to finish second. this is just my oppinion. thanks phyl zub #02
