With the "New and Improved" points and championship structure in Nextel Cup this year Jeff Gordon is getting robbed. I know some people (maybe lots) don't like Gordon but you have to admit (yes you really do have to) that the guy can drive, and he can win races and his team really pulls together to get him a car he can race. He went to Richmond ahead by enough to clinch the title early but left in second place with a team mate ahead. The new points structure sucks. But oh well, its not my problem.
Enough about Nextel Cup
How about that Meridian Speedway and the Points races there.
With 13 different racing classes there should be some excitement left. Some of the classes are severly dominated by the leader so the only excitement left (as far as points chase goes) is in second, third, or even fourth or fifth places (or insert here the name of your favorite driver). Jason Sanders had a good lead over his father Kirk going in to the race but skipping the last race and somehow upsetting the Karma let Kirk gain the maximum amount of points (or thereabouts) possible and whittle the lead to 45 points with three races left. Jason better not take off another race unless he "fixes" his dad's car first. Kirk has a really good lead over Casey Hart (209 points) in the Neon so if both Sanders' take off the same night they could probably make the chase more interesting but Harts Neon, while fast sometimes, has some reliability issues with right fron wheel bearings and other things.
Keep posted. I will present a complete article in a few more days. The points results are still coming in and my predictions are coming soon.
