(Twin Falls, Idaho) The Carbon X Rocky Mountain Challenge Series opened the season at Magic Valley Speedway Saturday Night along with the Budweiser Super Stocks. Also on hand were the NAPA Street Stocks and Quales Electronics Hornets and Junior Stingers for round two in their respective seasons. The windy, clear weather made for a perfect Southern Idaho Spring race for fans all classes enjoyed competitive fields and treated fans to excellent racing.
The Budweiser Super Stocks featured a nice run by defending champion Kris McKean who raced his way into first place and held off Jeff Pohlman for the win. Daniel Shirley rounded out the top three positions. The Budweiser Super Stocks are back in action next week.
The NAPA Street Stocks had fans excited as Kendall Woll tried to reverse his luck from last week’s head on collision with the turn four wall during the heat race that put him out of the races for the night. First week main event winner John Hoogendoorn seemed ready to fly by on the outside to take over first place in the last few laps but Woll gamely held on. Fans stood as the final lap had Woll battling hard and beating Hoogendoorn back to the finish line in a door to door battle.
The Quales Electronics Hornets featured last week’s winner Ty Garibay who needed to race against not only his Grandpa (Bob Gilligan) but his Uncle and Girlfriend Jenna Quale who finished second to him last week! Third place was to be his final finishing position as Bob Gilligan took a wild ride in the air, over tires and through debris to win over second place Louis Lopez. He was out of breath and excited about the thrilling finish in the winner’s circle afterwards.
The Quales Electronics Junior Stingers pitted last week’s winner 12 year old "Racin'" Jason Quale in his Junior Stinger against Hannah Newhouse and Brandon Couch. He showed excellent racing skills as he handled the tri-oval run by the Junior Stingers with ease. His second in a row win could be followed by another, but only if "Mom and Dad say I can" he quipped in the winner’s circle.
Next up at Magic Valley Speedway, Saturday May 1st, the "Outback Steakhouse Spectator Drags" along with the Budweiser Super Stocks, Brennans Carpet Pony Stocks, Quales Electronics Junior Stingers and the Super Six Sprints. For more information please visit www.magicvalleyspeedway.com
