Evel Knievel
I just heard the news that Evel Knievel died on Friday.
I don't have much to add to the stories that I have read on various message boards except to say that I am saddened to hear the news. Evel Knievel was one of my heros when I was growing up and I always admired him even though not everything in his lifestyle was something I wanted to emulate. But who can be that famous without having the world know everthing that you do in your private life? I remember reading an article about him 20 to 30 years ago that when he crashed on a jump attempt that if possible he would get to a microphone and apoligize to the crowds for his failed attempt. I noticed that in that most recent movie that they made about him that that part was not correct. I think the movie starred that guy from that supremely idiotic show CSI.
Another one of my heros just died. Evel Knievel was a real man in that he was who he claimed to be.
