Brief History of Freezeout

Old Freezeout Road is located 45 minutes northwest of Boise near Emmett ID. Once the main route in and out of the Emmett Valley,this particular stretch was bypassed by a new highway in 1967. Since then the road has been maintained as asecondary route by Gem County.

Unlike circle track racing where the drama is right out front and in your face the drama of a performance rally is often in the scoreboard. The top four teams were within seconds of each other after most stages. Check out car numbers 4 and 2 who finished first and second after the first day and were only 4 seconds apart after 52 minutes of racing. It doesn't get much closer than that.

Most of this has been published before on this website but it merits a second stage.

When you get up on Friday July 2nd at 6 or 7 (or even later for some of you lazy heads) Larry Gebert has already made a good start on his day. This Friday he is helping the Idaho Rally to promote the Rally 2010 coming up in two weeks as part of his news and weather show. He will be at the Expo Idaho in Boise at 4:30 AM to prepare for the show to start.

Those two names are famous among race fans in Idaho but these two guys are not the Brian Scott and John Dillon locals are familiar with. In certain racing circles they are famous just not famous for racing in circles. No left turn only and no door to door for them, they are teammates in one of North America’s best rally teams, Widget Racing.
